Have you ever heard the saying, "I can't see the forest for the trees?"
It's the fascinating concept of being so deeply buried in our current circumstances that we can't see the bigger picture of life.
And it's true right?
In my quiet time this morning I had my favorite worship songs playing, and thoughts about a conversation I had yesterday came to mind. Then I thought about something to add to the grocery list. Then I wondered something about work...
You know how it goes - the everyday realities of life are at the forefront of our minds and, if we let them, they can consume our thinking.
In today's podcast episode I share the treasure that is found in Psalms 121. David reminds us to raise our eyes off of only what's in front of us and look up - to God.
Look up to the One Who can and wants to help you to navigate today. Because when we remember how majestic He is, then we can see the bigger picture of life from His perspective.

Have you ever tried to find that elusive favorite pair of socks (you know, the ones that keep your feet warm and cozy) - and they are NOWHERE to be found?
You've looked high and low and then, along comes someone else and they 'appear' right where you were looking!
It's as if a different and fresh set of eyes can see what you couldn't (even though it was right in front of you).
It's the same with Jesus.
When we seem to have looked and thought and dreamed of all sorts of ways to see something happen, but finally yell out "there's no way" - He shows how HE is the way.
As you listen to this week's podcast I want to encourage you that there is no way that can remain blocked, when Jesus is part of the equation. Now that's GOOD news!

Being intentionally aware of the goodness of God is a total game changer.
If we're honest with ourselves we can see that our everyday lives can typically pass us by on 'autopilot', You know what it's like - we find ourselves doing things without much intentionality and thought.
A client friend of mine said to me today that seeing God in the 100 everyday normal parts of their life, has been transformational.
These moments are equally as special as the 'writing on the wall' moments, if we will take the time to notice them - and appreciate them on purpose.

Have you ever tried to plant some summer flowers and they just don’t grow?
You buy great seed. You prep the soil. You diligently water everything…yet some of them just don’t ‘take’?
That may be true here on Earth, but the act of sowing seed ALWAYS works in the Spirit. God promises 30, 60 or a hundredfold return on seed we sow. Why does this work? Because it’s a spiritual law and spiritual laws never fail.

I discovered a hidden treasure today - in the form of little yellow stickies I'd pasted on my wall. They'd been hidden behind a lamp until I uncovered them and discovered their gold.
I'd written them when I was first mapping out the 'How to Hear God' course and they reminded me of my history with God.

Remember when you were a kid and your Mom or Dad asked you to do something and you ‘chose’ to ignore them? There were lots of times that I did this when it came to the daily chores I didn’t like to do.
It’s called selective listening and we purposely turn it on when we don’t want to internalize what we’re hearing.
In 1 Peter 5:8 he tells us that ‘our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour’. This means that the enemy is actively looking to tell you things that will bring destruction in your life. What a sobering thought.
Here’s the Good News. God has given us a heads up that this will happen, and then He gives us the way to turn our ‘selective listening’ on, and tune out the enemy’s voice.

I love standing at the Arrivals Gate at airports. I watch as people wait in anticipation for their person to come out. Wait, wait, wait…there they are!
Seeing the joy as they run to each other and hug and laugh and celebrate being together again brings tears to my eyes every time.
There’s something about being totally wanted, and delighted in, that just makes us feel good right down deep in our heart.
Let yourself go there for a moment. You are totally loved. Adored. Delighted in. And cherished.
It feel so good right?

“God, could You please just turn my brain off for 5 minutes?”
Something had happened that really hurt my heart and a million thoughts seemed to be constantly cycling through my brain without a pause. I was feeling really overwhelmed and all I wanted was a little peace.
The answer God gave me really surprised me.
“Lisa, you’re asking Me to turn off your gift and I won’t do that. How about asking Me how to use your gift in a healthy way instead?”
Now I was intrigued…
“Lord, what do You mean by saying that having a million thoughts on constant repeat is a gift?”
What He unpacked for me next has literally brought so much revelation and understanding into both my own, and my coaching clients’, lives over the years.
When we can see our gifts through God’s lenses, then we can use them in a healthy way that brings us joy instead of frustration.
