Adventures With Jesus, Today

When I recorded this episode, I was sitting in the garden outside a coaching client’s office listening to the birds and letting the miracle of nature help me remember the provision and power that only God can bring into our lives.

This is my happy place and mental space - seeing the way nature fully embraces who God made it to be, and what He wants it to do. Such powerful and beautiful examples of His love, provision and care.

I was watching a collection of videos the other day and some of them were truly inspiring and I got a shot of encouragement to go after my dreams! But, after watching others in the series, I got really mad. I felt a holy disagreement rise up in me and I cried out to God to help me do something about it!

As I talked it through with Him, I asked myself these questions and I encourage you to ask them too…

When you look at the world around you, what do you see that really breaks your heart?

What makes you cry at the injustice or pain or despair of a situation?

What makes you passionate enough to do something that is way out of your comfort zone?

Once you let yourself answer these questions you will see how God's heart and yours are passionate about the same thing. When your heart breaks for a situation or a people, His does too.

The other day I got into my car and twisted my hip in such a way that it ached for days. At the height of when it was most sore, I had a coaching appointment with a client, but all I could think of was the pain in my hip. I stopped and took a deep breath just before I got on the call and reminded myself of this verse.

 

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.

2 Cor 12:9 (Amp)

 

The Truth of God’s love and care for me settled into my heart and mind and I felt faith and hope rise up from my belly. As I felt the weakness in my physical body and acknowledged that even though I may be an experienced coach - I am just a human being, I felt the love and pleasure of the Lord for both me and my client. In that session he got free from a defensive belief system and we set him up for huge success for the meeting he would be going into the next day with a client of his own.

 

It never ceases to amaze me how, when we acknowledge our own limited ability as human beings and keep our eyes fixed on God - partnering with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in order to bring heaven to earth, amazing shifts happen in our lives and God is glorified.

 

So, just like Paul, I will tell of my weaknesses all day long so that the power of Christ can be shown in me - and every heart can be filled with hope.

My husband and I have two very different personalities. I like to do a lot of things fast, and he likes to do a few things slowly. When we drive to work in the morning I like to go on the highway and he likes to take the back roads. This morning we were earlier than usual so he said to take highway.

Part of the beauty of being a Christian is that we get to 'come as we are, but not stay as we are'. We GET to become more like Jesus each day as we let God's love in, accept what Jesus paid for us to have and rely on the Holy Spirit to help us navigate daily life.

We get to go into the Promised Land that God is inviting us to inhabit. 

Problem is...there are giants that will try to intimidate us into seeing ourselves as grasshoppers (Num 13:33) and if we let them succeed, we'll turn around and run.
