Pay Attention To The Season
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
In Romans 8:28 in the Amplified Bible it says, "And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
God is so intimately involved in our every day life and His major intention is to help us unpack all the astounding gifts of Heaven that Jesus paid for us to have.
In this episode I share a story of how Jesus is always inviting us into a place of discovery of HIs goodness, HIs provision and His loving attention.
This is the adventure He's inviting you on today - will you accept?

Where Are You Seated?
Wednesday Jan 06, 2021

Many of you know that I’ve been married to an IT genius for a long time!
His number 1 rule? Do not take liquid near your computer.
I don’t even remember how many times people have come to him and said, “Frans, I spilled coffee/soda/water on my laptop. Can you fix it?”
So what do you think the look on his face was as I came and told him that I’d just spilled water onto my laptop keyboard and it made a funny ‘pfff’ sound as I turned it off?
Um yes, I got the same look as he gives to everyone else…
We switched it off and he told me to let it dry for 24 hours. Honestly, I felt like my arm had been cut off, but I wasn’t going to risk any more damage than I’d already done.
Then the thoughts started.
What if…you lose all the information?
When did you do your last backup?
What will you do if the laptop is dead?
Just then Jesus ‘nudged’ me and gave me an invitation…
Listen to this 10 minute podcast episode to find out what happened.

Our Hope is Jesus (not rules)

You know those times when Holy Spirit is highlighting an issue that He wants to help you with?
When everything around you seems to point to one topic and you know that this is an opportunity to walk into he Truth instead of staying stuck in a lie?
Yep, we’ve all ‘been there and done that’ right?
Well, this week He’s been inviting me into the adventure of relying more fully on Him, instead of going forward under my own steam…
I sought out the advice of a friend of mine who has been down this road (I love that we get to do this as Believers) and she recommended that I read the book of Galatians. It is a great guide on how to walk through life with each other.
I find that I get a better ‘big picture’ view of something when I listen to it, so I opened up the Message Bible on my YouVersion app.
I was getting ‘aha’ moments all the way through and this is what I learned…
- Stick to the foundations - rely on Jesus
- When you find yourself ‘striving’ then - rely on Jesus
- Find hope for the future - rely on Jesus
You guessed it - RELY ON JESUS was the main takeaway…
So, as you listen to this episode, this is His invitation to you today - will you accept?

- How to be delighted by the promise of God over your life
- Becoming fascinated with the possibilities He offers
- A key to receiving the power to live it out

Stir Up Your Faith
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Many of the conversations I've had with my beloved clients lately have centered around the confusion and frustration that seems to be everywhere at the moment.
So much is happening in the world (and in our own lives), that it can be difficult to focus on what God is saying in the midst of it all.
I've been experiencing this too and so I asked the Lord what to do about it.
He reminded me of 2 Tim 1:6-10 where Paul encourages Timothy to 'stir up his faith' and, in this episode, I share with you how He wants to help us to do that...
I'd love to talk through your questions about purpose with you. Use this link to book a chat with me: https://lisavdb.as.me/purpose

The Most Important Question To Ask God
Wednesday Dec 02, 2020
Wednesday Dec 02, 2020
This morning I was asking the Lord what He would like sent out on this podcast. Crickets. Nothing.
I’ve learned that when this happens, I’m asking a question that, in His kindness, He’s not yet ready to answer or I’m not yet ready to hear the answer.
That’s gold right there
- In His KINDNESS
- He’s not yet ready to answer (because He’s still doing things behind the scenes) or
- I’m not yet ready to hear the answer (He’s helping me develop to a place where I can receive)
So, I’ve learned to ask this question, “Lord, what are You ready to answer or reveal, that I’m ready to hear?”
The KEY to relationship with God is to ask real and raw questions and to have a conversation about what follows.
He revealed to me that the reason I wasn’t hearing an answer is that I’ve been getting caught up in the ‘business’ side of life and am neglecting remembering that our relationship is the most important thing to focus on. Everything else flows from there.
I got down on my face and spent time loving on Him and being loved on. Now everything feels freer and lighter and my focus is where it’s supposed to be.
Moral of the story? God is ALWAYS willing to be in relationship with us. It’s the biggest desire of His heart.

Endeavor to be Excellent
Wednesday Nov 25, 2020
Wednesday Nov 25, 2020
We've all heard some type of comparison showing the differences between excellence and perfection, right?
As we all look to do the things we're to do as well as we can, the line between the two can sometimes get blurry and bring a whole load of condemnation into the equation.
As I sat talking to the Lord about how He sees them, He shared that there is a healthy, and unhealthy, way to look at the difference.
Endeavoring to be excellent includes 3 things
- Doing everything as if you're doing it for Him alone (Col 3:23-24)
- Partnering with Holy Spirit to bring the perfection of Heaven
- Taking healthy pride in a job well done
Taking the unique gifts you've been given and using them each day with Holy Spirit, results in a desire to be excellent and let your light shine brightly (Mat 5:16).
The best part? It doesn't carry the heaviness and condemnation of trying to be 'perfect', by yourself.
