Who Are You Doing Life With

“I want to know how to connect with God and hear His voice, in the middle of my 12-hour busy days” my friend said.

 

I remember that frustration of trying to fit my quiet time into my day. I knew it would be good for me, but where was I supposed to fit it in?

 

And it’s not just him. So many people I talk to have busy lives - whether it’s looking after the kids, working long hours at a job or running a business (or all of these), so many of us are just busy…

 

I felt this way too until I realized that it’s not about adding another ‘to do’ onto your already wayyyyy too long list, it’s about an ‘all through the day’ conversation that comes from relationship.

This revelation (and learning how to live it each day), was a total game-changer for me. It relieved all the stress of trying to fit my ‘quiet time’ with God into a small window in my day, and broadened it to lots and lots of snippets of conversation all day long.

Keys to Living an Abundant Life

I remember sitting there with my head in my hands. Really confused and with very little idea of what happens next...

I had tried so hard to know what God wanted me to do with my life (fasting, praying, reading my Bible etc). These all gave me so much life and hope, but I still didn't know what to DO!

I stayed stuck in this rut for a while until one day I connected with a friend of mine who sat and talked things through with me. Because she wasn't so deeply involved in my story, she was able to look at it from a higher perspective and talk it through with the Lord on my behalf. As we sifted through all that was going on, God's clearer perspective emerged and with it - hope, strength and joy...and a pathway.

I realized that this was a gift of the Body of Christ - for us to sit and talk and pray and process things through with each other and Holy Spirit.

Not only did I receive this gift of being coached back then, but now I have also had the privilege of bringing the same clarity and direction as I have coached others (over a thousand hours over 8 years).

The Life-Changing Power Of Interacting With The Trinity

“I just want to see Jesus’ face” my coaching client lamented to me when we met yesterday.

My heart went out to him because I felt the same frustration and hunger just to get to know Jesus more - yet it seemed to be so difficult and out of reach!

We’d been at church this past weekend and the worship leader had invited us to ‘see Jesus’ face’ and he’d been trying really hard to do so.

You know what it’s like. You close your eyes and try to picture His face…and all you see is an actor who played Him in a movie, or a painting you’ve seen somewhere. But you want to see Him for real - not someone else’s rendition of Him. Argh!!

 

As we sat talking it through, I realized that my hunger to know the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit more, was no longer filled with that type of ‘angst of pursuit’ - but somewhere along the line it had been replaced by an ‘invitation to intimacy’ instead.

So how do you accept this invitation and get to know God as your Father? What does it look like to know Jesus as your Friend? And how do you get to interact with Holy Spirit to see ‘Heaven on Earth’ like He did with Jesus?

 

Wether you 

-> are brand new to this idea of having a deep relationship with the Trinity, and just have no idea where to begin, or

-> have heart wounds from your experience with your earthly father and don’t know how to interact with a loving Father, or

-> perhaps you’re confused about the whole ‘the Trinity are separate, but all one’ concept and it’s difficult for you to relate to Them

The Difference Between Mercy and Grace

Have you ever experienced a situation where you were so overcome by emotion that you just didn’t know what to do with yourself?

I know, me too!

Last week Friday something happened that had me in turmoil and God met me right smack in the middle of it and helped me come out the other side.

As He and I sat and unpacked what happened, I realized that He’d first shown me mercy, and then enabled me with grace.

These 2 words are talked about so much these days that there can be a real misunderstanding between the two. I was talking to a coaching client the other day and when we looked at the proper definition, meaning and weight behind each word, her mind was blown by the goodness of God that each of them demonstrate. 

In this episode I get really vulnerable and share how God literally came and helped me to not fall into temptation by showing me His mercy, and then giving me the grace to walk out of it well.

Don’t Let Fear Rob You Of Your Power

We have all played that game where we make shadow figures on the wall using our hands in front of a light. The truth is that our hands are a certain size, but depending on where we place them in relation to the light source, the shadow can look WAY bigger as its projected against the wall.

It's just the same with fear. It can appear way bigger than it actually is - but the truth is that it is simply a shadowed and distorted projection of the real thing. 

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the emotion and consequences of what we fear, that it looks far bigger than it actually is and we let it rob us of the power that God gives us to walk in. It can consume our thoughts and make us focus on what the enemy is trying to convince us can go wrong, instead of looking at the hope that Jesus brings. 

As we look at the reality of how God helps us to agree with His Truth instead of the enemy’s lies, we find the beautiful keys that He has provided us with that help us to walk in power instead of being incapacitated by fear.
